Let’s talk about goals.
Goals are something we all make each year. Whether I like it or not I have to make goals each year for myself and for my careers. Goals make me strive for movement and strive for change.
I’m getting married this year! I’m really excited for my July nuptials we have planned. I love July. It’s summer, I love fireworks and the lack of stress that comes with the celebration of independence day. We enjoy local town fairs, vintage car parades, and floatilas at the lake house. Sand and water are our summer which is what we all look forward to.
Sometimes I break my goals into half year sessions. One session for New Years and a new session beginning again at Independence Day, the day we celebrate freedom. It gives me a mark to recalibrate from, recognize I haven’t met or need to restructure my goal.
This last year has been different from others. In years past it was easy to make business goals and rather ignore personal goals. 2018 was a painful year with a robbery at the store struggling to prove and pay for our lost items. I nearly lost my mind. The stress became unbearable then anger and loss of trust. Finally in late november we were paid which relieved my many stresses. Concerns that I didn’t know what I was doing, worries that I hadn’t done my job well enough, fear that I would lost my business even though I taken every precaution to protect it. In the end, I was able to pull through and wait out the money I was due.
After a year of anguish I’ve decided that 2019 is the Year of Elizabeth. I will do my best to take care of myself in hopes that by doing so will improve my businesses and relationships. In my years as a business owner I’ve sponsored a few dreams. I’m hoping to take better care of myself, for my family and for my customers.
Goals for myself:
Eat well, eat regularly
Ride my peloton 3 days a week
Cook for my family from home 3 days a week
Take care of my skin especially my face
Tell me your goals. The silly, the BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) you have for yourself. Goals move us all forward. I will be forward a honest with you about what I need from you.
Some of you are on my goal list for work, don’t worry I haven’t forgotten to set goals for work. What do you think I’m crazy?
